IVS History
The Indian Vacuum Society was officially inaugurated on the 14th of February 1970 at the VJTI auditorium Matunga Mumbai with the foremost aim to promote, encourage and develop the growth of vacuum sciences, Techniques and applications in India.
Since its inception, IVS has been instrumental in conducting courses, workshops, symposia and seminar at various locations in India. It has helped to train personnel in use of vacuum equipments. Presently its membership stands at more than 800 life member that represents research, educational institutes as well as industry.

IVS Vision
The Indian Vacuum Society endeavors to:

- Establishing an active association of personnel, bodies, institutions (private and state owned) and the industries working on vacuum science and technology.

- Disseminating information concerning the developments in vacuum sciences, Techniques and applications through publications such as bulletins, reports, newsletters & journals.
- Organizing courses, symposia, seminars etc. in various parts on the country to educate users of vacuum equipment and afford a proper platform for reporting and discussing new developments.
